take a look around you. no doubt that chinese is the dominant race in the country. but dont make it the dominant language!
yesterday, a colleague storm in the lab and starts to brief in mandarin. she "ching chonged" all the way and it does makes me feel im working in China. im not guilty of ching chonging in coffee shop. thats like out of the office. thats like home. thats like where you have your free flow of 2nd language'ism.
anyways, thats not my point. my point is, english, being the first language, should be used across.... not, mandarin, not malay, not tamil, not hokkien, not cantonese.... NOT your 2nd mother f*cking Language!
In taxis, when a tamil customer boards, do you still 93.3fm out loud? or do you change it to class 95? The least you could do is to switch that damn thing off..... vice versa for mama's and ahmads....
with 2nd language, unprofessionalism is taking place. with 2nd language, one is creating a barrier. which part of the 2nd confuse you all??!! so why the hassle? doesnt everyone in Singapore supposed to understand English?
well i have to admit, this is the ugly part of the country. a good example to share. Rafa Benitez, a Spanish soccer manager in England, made all his foreign signings speaks English. Even his fellow Spaniards converse in English on and off the pitch.
im just disappointed.
